Hi, I’m Ola, the founder of Faciit.
A few years ago, I moved back to the UK after seven years abroad. I was excited. I had a job lined up in London. I had plans. I had momentum.
And yet, within six months, I found myself stuck—not because I wasn’t working hard, but because the system didn’t recognise me.
Let me tell you how that happened. Because it’s the reason Faciit exists.
The Move That Almost Broke Me
After settling back into life in London, I got an opportunity in Greater Manchester. It was a step forward that was better for my career, better for my future.
But moving isn’t cheap. I needed to get a place of my own. Furnish it. And most importantly, buy a car so I could get to work. Public transport wouldn’t cut it where I was going.
I wasn’t asking for much. Just a bit of credit to get started.
I had the income. I had the job. But the answer was NO.
“No Credit History” Is Not the Same as “Bad With Money”
But that’s not how the credit system sees it.
Because I hadn’t borrowed recently or borrowed in the UK at all for years, I was categorised the same way as someone with serious debt issues.
I wasn’t punished for being irresponsible. I was punished for being invisible.
The offers I did receive? Predatory. Interest rates that climbed up toward 100% APR. It was insulting, and terrifying!.
And then something worse happened.
The more I applied, the worse my situation became. Each rejection lowered my score further. Each application flagged me as "desperate." I was learning the hard way how the system penalises those who reach out for help.
What if I Didn’t Have Family and Friends?
Now here’s the part that still makes my chest tighten: I was fortunate. My social circle stepped in and helped me bridge the gap.
They lent me what I needed to relocate, to buy the car, to move forward.
But that’s what scares me the most. Because I kept thinking…
“What if I didn’t have anyone?”
I would have lost the job.
I want to be clear about that. The job in Manchester required me to move. No move, no job. No job, no income. No income, no progress. It’s a domino effect that pushes you backwards, fast.
And without income? I might have been forced to say yes to one of those predatory loans. And that’s where it gets dark.
It doesn’t stop at one bad loan. It snowballs.
You fall behind on repayments. You borrow again just to stay afloat. Your score drops. Your anxiety climbs. And suddenly, you’re in a cycle of high-cost debt that becomes harder and harder to escape.
Not because you mismanaged your money. But because you weren’t recognised when it mattered.
The Credit System Isn’t Evil, But It Is Outdated
I’m not anti-credit. I understand the need for checks, for safeguards. We don’t want reckless lending. No one wants another financial crash.
But the system we have today? It’s stuck in the past.
It was designed for a version of the UK that no longer exists. One where everyone had a 9-to-5, stayed in one place, and had predictable, credit-based lives.
That’s not reality anymore.
People move. People freelance. People build businesses. People save, but don’t borrow. And yet, all of that gets ignored.
So I’m Building Faciit for People Like Me
Here’s what I realised:
People don’t wake up thinking, “I need a better credit score.” They wake up thinking, “I need a car to get to work.” “I need a deposit for a flat.” “I need to move forward.”
So why are we forcing people to borrow first, just to prove they can be trusted to borrow?
Faciit flips the process.
We help people prove their creditworthiness through savings, not spending. If you can save one-third of your loan goal, we connect you with responsible lenders who fund the rest.
You Are Not the Problem
If you’ve ever felt helpless in front of a faceless system… if you’ve ever been told “NO” despite doing everything right… I see you. We see you!
Because I was you.
Faciit exists because too many of us are judged by outdated rules that don’t reflect who we are or how we live today.
You deserve a system that sees your effort. That rewards your responsibility. That gives you a fair shot.
We’re building that system.
And if this story feels familiar, maybe it’s time to be part of it.
